I have always been a creative problem-solver, and design gave me the tools to turn that instinct into a professional craft.

Before I knew what design was, I was living and breathing it for my entire life. My grandmother and I used to make painted pinecones for the holidays, plastic jewelry for birthdays, and hand-sewn costumes for every Halloween. She instilled in me a lifelong love of arts and crafts, and a deep appreciation of personalized designs.

I earned a cosmetology degree in 2007 and spent years honing my creative skills on the human head, tackling the myriad challenges that come with pleasing clients who have different expectations and different types of hair. After COVID-19 shuttered my business, I hungered for new creative challenges. Going back to school to study design gave me language and tools for what I was already doing: creatively solving problems.

I have always been intuitive, paying attention to small details that others overlook. As a stylist, I used color theory, geometry and proportion to complement the unique character of every client. As a designer, I now channel that same instinct into crafting visual identities that are as distinctive and expressive as the people behind them. My own diverse identity inspires me to spot the kind of magic that makes something truly special, and that’s why I branded myself Mystic Munson.
