Gilbert Baker Tribute Poster - Pride Month (June 2022)

This was a personal project celebrating the legacy of Gilbert Baker, the creator of the original rainbow pride flag. He is depicted here as a religious figure in a stained-glass window motif. It was influenced by the psychedelic art of the 1970s, when the rainbow flag was born. The quote in his halo is the Latin translation of what he once said about gay rights: “Power is always taken and never given.”

The finished poster was featured by the Gilbert Baker foundation on their official Instagram page.

Flags are torn from the soul of the people.
